Existing Situation:

 Town is divided into three zones. Zone II and III of this town have been provided with water supply system and is working properly, while Zone-I (project area is deficit of water supply because of oldest system

All distribution is rusted and leaking and production is very less as compared with demand. People are subjected to water shortage. Supply hours are very less. Very low terminal pressure observed. water supplied to consumers is contaminated due to out lived and rusted distribution system laid in year 1927 and some of it renovated in year 1964-65. Presently population covered 60 % and per capita supply is15 GPCD against required 50 GPCD.

 

Description of Sub Project:

The sub project comprises of tube wells, pumping machinery, transmission main, distribution system, over head reservoir, hypo chlorinators, bulk meters and service connections. The design horizon for the Project is upto year 2025. However machinery and Transmission mains are to be designed for period upto 2015 and distribution network for year 2025. Additional tube wells are to be installed along the left bank of Lower Jhelum Canal (8 Nos.).

•       Reduction of water-borne and communicable diseases by provision of potable water.

•       Reduction in cost of curative medicine by elimination / reduction of diseases.

•       Saving of man days of public presently affected with such diseases.

•       Improvement of the working efficiency of individuals and ultimately the organizations.

•       Raising the standard of living of the citizens.
