Existing Situation:
Sub
soil ground water is brackish. It is chemically
not fit for human consumption. As such, canal
water after treatment by slow sand filtration is
supplied. Three numbers water works are
functioning; one (WW-5) is under construction
which is the replacement of existing water works
1. In addition, 9-Nrs shallow tube wells have been
installed along Lower Gogera Branch Canal to draw
ground water and transmit to the city through a
16-inches diameter AC transmission main. Moreover,
small capacity tube wells are also working within
Water Works-1 & 2 premises drawing recharged water
from the raw water storage. Present available
water to inhabitants is 25 GPCD, whereas as per
design criteria 50 GPCD should be available to
these people.
Description of Sub Project:
The
sub project comprises of tube wells, pumping
machinery, transmission main, distribution system,
over head reservoir, ground storage and service
connections. The design horizon for the
Project is upto year 2026. However machinery and
Transmission mains are to be designed for period
upto 2015 and distribution network for year 2025.
