A Two Day Workshop on Operation & Maintenance of
Municipal Services
PMDFC organized a two day workshop, dated 2nd &
3rd June 2008, on Operation & Maintenance of
Municipal Services. The workshop was aimed at
highlighting the importance and need of
operation & maintenance of municipal services.
The need of such intervention became imminent
due to lack of O&M culture in TMAs. Presently
infrastructure schemes carried out in TMAs face
deterioration over time and end up well before
their designed life. Primary reason behind this
phenomenon is absence of proper O&M practices in
TMAs.
Realizing the gravity of existing situation,
PMDFC organized this workshop for the Tehsil
Nazims, Tehsil Municipal Officers, Tehsil
Officers I&S and Sub-engineers of year-1 partner
TMAs. June 2, 2008 sessions of the workshop were
attended by the TOs I&S and sub-engineers. They
were apprised of the existing situation in an
interactive session. The participants were
addressed by Mr. Kevin Taylor-Technical
Consultant World Bank, Ch. Aashiq Hussain –
Technical Consultant PMDFC, Mr. Iftikhar Rasool
– GM Engineering PMDFC and Mr. Aamir Nazir – GM
Environment & Procurement PMDFC. 2ND
day of the workshop was to sensitize the TMA
leadership on the significance of O&M. The
Tehsil Nazims and TMOs were briefed by Muhammad.
Aashiq Chaudhry, Mr. Iftikhar Rasool and Mr.
Aamir Nazir. Innovative experiences regarding
water supply by a community based organization
of Bhalwal were shared by its Chairman Mr.
Mussadiq Abdullah.
The participants expressed a great deal of
interest in the workshop. The over arching
framework of PMSIP interventions was given by
Mr. Sajid Siddique – Managing Director PMDFC.
